Meditation:
"We, like our ancient sisters and brothers, see a world that does not seem to reflect God’s values and God’s kingdom, and this leads us to wonder about God and about God’s ways in the world. If this conflict is not resolved, our faith becomes stuck and cannot grow further. This prayer goes into those places of doubt and, like the books of Job and Ecclesiastes, finds a path through these times to another level of faith. It is a guide for the times when we have similar questions and encourages us to keep looking for truth in the midst of an imperfect world."

Meditation:
"God’s ‘alien’ works are these: to judge, to condemn, and to punish those who are impenitent and do not believe. God is compelled to resort to such ‘alien’ works and to call them His own because of our pride. By manifesting these works He aims to humble us that we might regard Him as our Lord and obey His will.”
~ Martin Luther

Meditation:
"The bread and wine in this sacrament, properly set apart to the uses ordained by Christ, so relate to him crucified that truly and yet only sacramentally they are sometimes called by the name of what they represent, that is, the body and blood of Christ."
